Earth Haven is an adult working Coven of a Tradition that works the
sabbats as Mysteries and Craft workings. The point of us doing a
Public ritual is so we can share some of the work we do in our
Tradition and Coven with the Community at large.
For us, Samhain is a working for the dead. We hope those who need
such workings will benefit from it. Solitaries who have lost a
family member and have nowhere else to deal with that loss at this
time of the Wild Hunt, will hopefully be able to take advantage of
this working.
**WARNING** This is a ritual for adults - it is not child friendly.
Parents please be aware that this rite is not child friendly, We
advise of this in advance so that you can decide whether you want to
bring your kids or not. It is out of respect to parents and children
alike that we make such a warning. Young ones are very open and more
susceptible to high energies and emotions. They often become very
distressed themselves, becoming somewhat hysterical when they observe
adults in the midst of strong emotion or grieving. The energy will
be high, strong emotions will be expressed, not to mention heavy
spirit activity in this rite.
Each person who attends will need to bring one CARVED pumpkin. The
pumpkin should be between 10 to 12 inches in diameter. Very larger
or very small pumpkins are not suitable.
Each person should bring three pennies – these are for Jack. This
will be explained further at orientation.
If you have lost a loved one in the past year, or if you have a
departed loved one very dear to you that you choose to honor this
night, please bring a picture or an item belonging to that person.
Who will have the opportunity to place it on the Ancestral Altar and
light a candle for your loved one. These items must be reclaimed at
the end of the evening.
And, as usual, please bring a dish to share for feasting after the
rite. It will be very important to ground with food after this rite.
If you have questions or require further information, please post to
the Aspengroveutah group list.
