Cross-Posting this as a listing and to my tribe blog, hoping more folks will see it this way.
To all my lovely lovelies in SLC who see this today (Wed 2/13): Please, if you are even remotely able to go to the Capitol from 6-7pm tonight, I implore you to do so. Having many bodies there is important, and showing support for ALL families, not just *some* families, would be a wonderful way to spend an hour on Valentine-Eve.
In case you don't already know about it, an important rally is happening today at the Capitol from 6-7pm. Many brave and committed folks have been working hard to change the adoption/foster laws in Utah that mandate only married or single (meaning no cohabiting, straight or gay) people can adopt or foster children. This has a devastating effect on many people, including gay parents, who have little or no legal protections for their children.
Their efforts have been met with tremendous resistance, and agreements made with legislators were rescinded. There are a lot of things happening at the legislature, and even from afar my heart aches.
