Excellent on Food Authenticity, Poor on Human Relations
LHF embraces the ideas of todays rapidly growing trends in organic food, supporting local farmers and appreciating the authenticity in food, but severely lacks the value of contributing to humanity and the economy by creating a work environment that honors the worker and inspires and rewards them to strive for greatness. It has become a place that is geared to market the rich and prestigious, and shuns those that live in a lower income bracket. Yes, it is true, WalMart has now jumped on the organic bandwagon, and although I despise the ethics behind their system too, it does make eating healthy a reality for the poor. But back to the work ethics, I feel that if a business is going to charge an arm and a leg for an organic Heirloom tomato, the profits should roll over more fairly to the underpaid person who is consistently on the front lines of the establishment, and is also the person who obviously can make or break the success of the relationship between the public and Liberty Heights Fresh. Being treated like a peasant makes me want to take my hard earned money and go "Buy Local" elsewhere!!!
